Lucas Beaver PSO Bravo Award
Heather Pelat

North Hills High School and Middle School band director Lucas Beaver has been named a recipient of the BRAVO! Champions of Music Education Award, presented by the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, recognizing his outstanding contributions to music education and student access across the region.

The BRAVO! Champions for Music Education program celebrates educators and advocates who create high-quality, accessible music learning experiences for PreK–12 students, recognizing both classroom instruction and the behind-the-scenes efforts that foster community, creativity, and resilience.

Now in his eighth year teaching band in the North Hills School District, Beaver leads ensembles at both the high school and middle school and conducts the spring musical pit orchestra. In addition to his work in the classroom, he serves as President of Pennsylvania Music Educators Association District 1, supporting music educators and programming across the region.

Beaver has also developed a strong partnership with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, connecting students with educational outreach programs and performance opportunities at Heinz Hall. He credits many PSO musicians as influential teachers and mentors throughout his own musical journey.

Beaver will be formally recognized during the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra’s concert on Friday, April 10, at Heinz Hall.

His recognition reflects the impact of dedicated music educators in shaping student experiences and strengthening school communities through the arts.
