NHMS kicking off Strong as Steel program for new school year
North Hills Middle School is hosting a school-wide assembly on Friday, August 30, to kick off the school’s Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (SWPBIS) system Strong as Steel for the 2024-25 school year.
Through the program, students are encouraged to take ownership, demonstrate respect and choose safety to earn tickets to win prizes and school-wide rewards. Last year, the middle school hosted illusionist and professional card thrower Rick Smith Jr., held an Olympics-style homeroom competition, and top ticket earners attended a Pittsburgh Pirates game, among other rewards.
Friday's event will be held from 2 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., not during the club period at the end of the day as previously stated. All students will be dismissed at their normal dismissal time including the students who are regularly dismissed at 2:30 p.m. These students have an "A" in their assigned PM bus route.
As part of the SWPBIS program, students and staff are encouraged to show they are #StrongAsSteel by wearing Strong as Steel gear or black and gold to kick off each school week.
The middle school has a Strong as Steel apparel sale going on now with proceeds supporting future school-wide rewards.
The online store will close at 9 a.m. on September 11. Purchases will be delivered to your child’s homeroom teacher for distribution.
