North Hills Middle School sixth grader Chaz Warner recently earned a second-place finish in the Sixth Grade Division of the National Geography Bee Regional Competition, held Saturday, Jan. 17, at the Allegheny Intermediate Unit (AIU).

This fall, the North Hills Middle School Social Studies Department gave students the opportunity to qualify for regional competitions connected to the National History and National Geography Bees. Chaz qualified for the Geography Bee and went on to represent North Hills at the regional level, competing against students from schools across the region.

The competition was especially meaningful, as this marked the return of the History and Geography Bees at the AIU after a several-year hiatus following the end of National Geographic’s Geography Bee program in 2020. For Chaz, it was also his first time participating in a competition of this kind.

Despite the intensity of the event, Chaz handled himself with confidence and focus throughout the day. His strong performance earned him a second-place finish and qualified him for the National Geography Bee, should he and his family decide to continue on to the national level.

Chaz is a student in Mrs. Ressel’s sixth-grade social studies class. The North Hills School District congratulates Chaz on an outstanding accomplishment and applauds his hard work and dedication.
