North Hills Middle School music students compete in Music in the Parks festival in Hershey
North Hills Middle School music students traveled to Hershey on May 24 where they competed in the Music in the Parks festival.
The annual music event serves as a culminating experience for our students and teachers by providing feedback that drives future instruction and learning.
In total, 165 students from the 8th Grade Band, 8th Grade Orchestra and Concert Choir performed for each other and spent a day at HersheyPark for the awards ceremony.
North Hills ensembles earned ratings and ranks as follows:
- 8th Grade Orchestra - Excellent/1st Place
- 8th Grade Band - Superior/1st Place
- Concert Choir - Excellent/1st Place
- Best Overall MS Band Award
- Best Overall MS Orchestra Award
- Esprit de Corps Award
The Esprit de Corps Award recognizes a participating organization that displays an exemplary attitude of positive support and outstanding personal behavior throughout the festival weekend. Personal integrity, quality character values, a desire for excellence, and a spirit of cooperation serve as the cornerstone qualities of the Esprit de Corps Award.
The 8th Grade Band is directed by music teachers Lucas Beaver and Tom Hartwell, 8th Grade Orchestra by Nick Vranesevic, and Concert Choir by Shaun Cloonan.
