Peer mentor groups hold first meetings of school year

North Hills' Coaching Boys into Men group had their first meeting of the school year on Feb. 21. The peer mentor group was formed last year in collaboration with Crisis Center North.
The student mentors, high school juniors at the time, were paired with then-eighth graders. Now seniors and freshmen, the students will meet weekly for the remainder of the school year, taking part in various activities to build character and social skills and help prepare them for the future.
Our new female mentor group also held their first meeting this month. Junior girls were paired with eighth graders and met on Feb. 18. The girls will also be taking part in character-building activities for the remainder of the year.
