Strong as Steel: NHMS students compete in Rock, Paper, Scissors challenge

Strong as Steel Rock, Paper, Scissors 2025
Heather Pelat

On August 27, North Hills Middle School students participated in a school-wide Rock, Paper, Scissors challenge sponsored by the school's Strong as Steel program.

The positive behavior reinforcement program encourages students to take ownership, demonstrate respect, and choose safety, and by doing so they can earn tickets to win prizes and school-wide rewards.

Throughout the day on Wednesday, students competed in friendly Rock, Paper, Scissors games against each other and staff members to earn beads. At the end of the day, the top winners from each homeroom faced off to determine the top three grade-level winners, and finally, the overall building champion.

During the event, students demonstrated positive behaviors that showed they are truly Strong as Steel

Congratulations to our top three students:

  • 8th Grade: Cory Rafferty (Team Carnegie)
  • 7th Grade: Jackson Davis (Team Earth) -- Overall NHMS winner!
  • 6th Grade: Owen Schweizer (Team Pirates)
